Traditionally the healing
arts of Hawai'i were handed down in families . These skills
were not usually taught outside of the family and even
less likely to be taught to non Hawaiians. In the last
few decades many of the kupuna realized the time was at
hand for this knowledge to be shared. Even though they
were willing to share it, there were few ways for outsiders
to connect with these wisdom keepers. Realizing that the
world was in need of this information, and the kupuna
were now willing to teach the sacred information they
had carried for so many years,, 'Aina Me Kalani was born.
In 2003, 'Aina me Kalani was incorporated as a non profit
educational foundation by Rebecca Avery and Papa K Kepilino.
The mission was to perpetuate the healing and cultural
arts of Hawai'i and to serve as a bridge for the Aloha
spirit and the healing practices of Hawai'i to people of
other countries and traditions.
Since its incorporation,'Aina Me Kalani has grown and
has served as a beacon of Aloha and learning for students
from over twenty countries. It has offered six conferences,
twenty-five workshops and two retreats.
